To inform students past, present and potential to whats going on at School and the Industry

Welcome to the James Rumsey truck driver training web page. Our 12 week program offers one of the most comprehensive training curriculums in  the transportation industry. Students will receive several weeks training on our unique mile long driving range developing their shifting, turning and backing skills before going out onto the roads and highways. Students will then spend 2-3 weeks preparing for the CDL exam  to acquire their class-A license, West Virginia students have the advantage of testing right here on our facility, where panhandle cdl tests are given.    The last few weeks are spent in full size tractor-trailers driving in various situations that drivers will encounter such as driving in city traffic, mountain driving with loaded trailers and night driving.

During the 12-week program, students will also receive up to 75 hours of classroom instruction to aquire the information drivers need to perform their jobs legally and efficiently. This includes size and weight limitations, trip planning, hours of service requirements, load securement, trucking company policies and relations.

We put a strong emphasis towards safety. Threaded throughout the 12 week program, we will focus on defensive driving skills and hazard recognition techniques. The most important tool a student needs to take with them after completing our program is a strong attitude towards safe and effective driving  which will afford them  a long and rewarding career as a professional driver.

Developing professional and SAFE drivers is our #1 goal!
